Cate Costley

Cate is a fourth-year Ph.D. candidate with a focus on the histories of Native communities and reservation border towns in the American Southwest. A 2015 graduate of Middlebury College, Cate spent time teaching and working in New Mexico before entering graduate school. Through research, writing, and hands-on engagement, she aims to deepen her understanding of growth and development in the Four Corners region in the twentieth century. Her research interests include American Indian law, environmental history, Indigenous activism, and modern conservatism.
