Kick off

Show off your Buff pride with this kickoff to the fall semester! Learn CU traditions and cheers with the CU Spirit Squad, Golden Buffalo Marching Band and athletics coaches. You’ll also get to see the best tradition in college sports: the running of Ralphie.

Black and Gold

Black and Gold Bash | August 23 | 8-11 p.m. | Benson and Duane Fields

The Black and Gold Bash features:

Effective Bystander Training | August 24 - 25 | Time & Location Varies

Many members of our campus community will witness situations where help is needed. What a bystander does may make all the difference. In this interactive session, we will explore factors that hinder and promote helping and practice the range of skills for intervening effectively. 

All new students (first year and transfer students) are required to attend a bystander training session. If you miss your session, you will have a hold on your class registration for next semester.

No matter what your passions and interests are, there are many ways to get involved. Meet with student organizations, campus departments and community organizations in the Boulder area. Learn about their involvement opportunities and all the ways you can get involved this year! This event is open for all CU Boulder students to attend.

The Herd at Ralphie's Corral | August 30 | 4 p.m. | Broncos Stadium at Mile High, Lot C

Looking for free snacks and refreshments before the Rocky Mountain Showdown? Need a place to sit down and relax before the big game? Stop by the Herd’s exclusive student event inside Ralphie’s Corral. Get your picture taken with Ralphie, and watch the Spirit Squad and the Golden Buffalo Marching Band perform before you head into Mile High Stadium to cheer on the Buffs! Plus, scan your Herd App for free game-day swag. Look for the ForeverBuffs arch and giant inflatable buffalo, Alphie, outside Gate 1 in Lot C!  

Rocky Mountain Showdown

Rocky Mountain Showdown | August 30 | 8 p.m. | Broncos Stadium at Mile High

Cheer on the CU Buff football team at the annual CU vs. CSU game!

  • FREE Buses will be provided and accommodations will be on a first come, first serve basis.
  • Buses will board in front of the CU Events Center at 4:30PM
  • Buses will return AFTER the game
  • Must show Buff OneCard
  • Tickets to the game will be issued via mobile delivery to your phone
