CU Boulder completed collecting data for the cyclically administered Student Social Climate Survey in December of 2014. All enrolled, degree-seeking undergraduate and graduate students, including those in Law, were invited to participate in the survey. Both versions focused on the below issues as they pertain to fellow students and course instructors. The undergraduate version, however, focused more on classes, instructors and residence hall life; whereas the graduate version focused more on the students' specific programs, advisors, and research and teaching experience.

Both surveys asked students about:

  • level of comfort on the Boulder campus
  • extent to which they feel they fit in and are welcome at CU-Boulder
  • perceptions of respect accorded students who belong to various diverse groups of people on campus
  • how often they hear negative remarks or see negative behaviors targeted at others based on group membership
