Music in the Digital Age
We know digital technology and the internet have transformed music — from how it’s created to how it’s distributed, and even how we consume it. But there’s more to be discovered about the technology of music. Dr. John Gunther will delve into this topic, bringing his wealth of experience as a composer and performer.
John Gunther is a composer and multi-instrumentalist playing saxophone, clarinet and flute. With a restless musical spirit, he explores all forms of jazz — from traditional to avant-garde, as well as classical and experimental electronic music. An associate professor and director of the Thompson Jazz Studies program at CU Boulder, Dr. Gunther has performed with jazz greats on stages throughout the U.S., South America and Europe, including in Carnegie Hall, in the middle of the ocean and on the back of a truck.
