CU Boulder Vocal Jazz Ensemble Director Paul Falk joined the College of Music in 2022. He also serves as director of vocal music at Ponderosa High School in Parker, Colorado, and vocal jazz R&R chair for the Colorado American Choral Directors Association (Colorado ACDA).

Falk has taught high school choral music at Rocky Mountain High School (a GRAMMY Signature School) in Fort Collins, Colorado, and ensembles under his direction have received several invitations to perform at the Southwest ACDA, Colorado Music Educators Association and Jazz Education Network. He frequently adjudicates for Colorado High School Activities Association Festivals, Young Artists Alliance Festival, University of Northern Colorado/Greeley Jazz Festival, Jazz Aspen Snowmass Jazz Choir, University of Wyoming Jazz Festival and ACDA Honor Choirs, and is an accompanist for the Colorado All State Choir (vocal jazz and classical choirs). 

As a musician, Falk was a vocal percussionist for the Colorado a cappella group “Groove Society” and has worked with artists including—among others—Jackie Allen, Anton Armstrong, René Clausen, Ben Folds, Von Freeman, Mandy Harvey, Terrence Mann, Kate McGarry, Judy Niemack, SHEL and the Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience choir, featuring composer Ramin Djawadi.

Falk earned a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Northern Colorado where he was active in the award-winning “Downbeat” jazz/vocal jazz ensembles and choral program. He earned a Master of Music in jazz performance (voice/piano) under the tutelage of Patricia Barber, Laurence Hobgood and Mike Molloy at the Chicago College for the Performing Arts at Roosevelt University.
