Derrek Wilson
Environmental and Natural Resources Policy

Derrek Wilson is the Student Council representative for the Environmental and Natural Resources Policy specialization. He was born and raised in Lehi, Utah where he spent a lot of time in the nearby mountains and in Utah's many National Parks developing a love for earth. He studied Environmental Science at BYU, where he performed research on air pollution's impacts on human health and wildfire's impacts on water quality. He also led an initiative that led to the establishment of a sustainability office at the university. Derrek came to MENV to deepen his policy knowledge and skills and hopes to work on state level climate and water policy in the West. When he is not studying, he can be found running on a trail around town, playing basketball, riding his bike, going to concerts, or hanging out at one of Boulder's many great coffee shops with a book!
