Dear MASP Family and Friends,

We hope this letter finds you well. It has been another challenging year for us all, but also one with moments of joy and celebration. It is in times like these that community is particularly important, although in the pandemic, coming together as community has been, in and of itself, a challenge. Through it all, MASP has remained true to its mission and our team committed to not only maintaining, but continuing to grow our programming and reach. To this end, I’m excited to share several new initiatives. The first is our new bridge program, the Summer Transfer Excellence Program (STEP). We are piloting STEP this summer alongside our long running program for incoming first years, the Program for Excellence in Academics and Community (PEAC). We are also piloting another new summer program that is a student led initiative. Building Leadership among Communities of Color (BLACC) is hosting its very first BLACC Summer, a week long program for incoming students who are Black identified. Look for an overview of these new programs and how they went in the next newsletter.

In this newsletter, you can read about MASP’s new office space, a recap of LINC (our continuing student bridge program), highlights of current MASP students, faculty, and staff and  more. You’ll also meet the newest team member Mar Galvez Seminario, the new Administrative Assistant

Celeste Montoya

Sincerely,

Celeste Montoya
Director, Miramontes Arts & Sciences Program
