Building Security

Bear Creek buildings are equipped with electronic key card access. External doors and apartment doors require the coded access cards (your Buff OneCard), and room doors have Salto locks which use your BuffOne card for access.

Community Effort

Safety and security is a shared responsibility between the university and the student. While we have taken many measures to ensure the safety of the students living in the residence halls, we also expect students to take steps and actions in protecting the safety of themselves and their community. To find out more about what you can do to help, visit the safety information in OnCampus.

Fire Safety

Each room is equipped with automatic fire suppression sprinklers, which are activated by heat/fire, not smoke. Each room is also equipped with a battery-powered smoke detector. Tampering or deactivating a smoke alarm is prohibited and may result in contract termination and/or prosecution.

Evacuation

In the case of floods, tornadoes, fire and/or other emergencies that may require evacuation, we have detailed instructions on what procedures to follow. Visit the Emergency Management website.

When the office isn't open who do I call?

If you have a water leak, lock out, or problem after hours that you cannot resolve by yourself, contact the on-call Community Engagement Leaders (CEL) for your building.
