The start of the new semester for students, and one like never before, means learning their way around campus and adjusting to new schedules. At the beginning of each academic year, our dining centers experience variable wait times as students discover our different locations and figure out what schedule works best for them. Dining staff work to accommodate all students as we know food is an essential part of a student’s success.
Over the past few days, lines at the Center for Community (C4C) continue to move quickly and have shortened as expected as students visit new locations.
We have heard feedback from families and made some changes to our operations, including extending hours for one of our order ahead options and opening up an additional location for breakfast. The following are some tips for students to make their meal pick up as quick and convenient as possible.
Try out alternatives to the C4C
Campus Dining Services has seven locations open for breakfast that accept meal plans and Munch Money: Alferd Packer Grill (meal swipes), The Bakery (Munch Money), C4C (meal swipes), Sewall Dining Center (meal swipes), SEEC Café (meal swipes, Munch Money), Village Center (meal swipes) and Village Market (Munch Money).
Many of the popular items in the C4C are also available for lunch and dinner at other locations. The Alley @ Farrand serves burgers and pizza, CU on the Run offers sandwiches on the go and Alferd Packer Grill has pasta and salads available. WeatherTech Café offers pizzas and sandwiches until 11 p.m. for anyone looking for later night meals. Our markets offer quick snacks and pre-made sandwiches.
The Bakery, Starbucks, VIllage Market and SEEC are open to students living off campus for breakfast, and are accepting Campus Cash and credit/debit cards. For lunch and dinner options, off-campus students can visit WeatherTech Café, SEEC or any of our retail markets. For more details about who can eat at each of thelocations and forms of payment accepted, please visit our dining hours and menus page.
Order meals ahead
Five of our dining locations currently offer order ahead service for meals: The Alley @ Farrand, CU on the Run, SEEC Café, Sewall Dining Center and WeatherTech Café. Students can use the Nutrislice website or app to order their meal and schedule a pick-up time convenient for them. Their meal will be waiting for them at the pick-up location - they just need to have their order confirmation ready when they arrive. Students can find detailed instructions for ordering meals in the FAQs on our website.
Know before you go
Students can use the Nutrislice website or app to review the day’s menus and decide what they want to eat before they arrive at dining locations. Any students who have food allergies or other dietary restrictions can filter those menus to see what options are available for them each day. Our staff dietitian, Lisa Whalen, is also available to help students with any questions about navigating the dining centers with dietary restrictions, understanding our allergen labeling or healthy eating on campus.
Get multiple meals in one trip
Students can save themselves a trip to the dining center during peak hours by getting an extra meal during their visit or ordering multiple meals for pick up. Students can use up to four meal swipes in one trip to a dining center, so they can grab dinner and then lunch for the next day, and keep that meal in their mini fridge.
Visit during non-peak times
During off-peak times, our dining locations have much shorter or no lines. Off-peak hours at our main dining centers are between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. for breakfast, and between 1 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. for lunch or dinner.
