The Department of Linguistics at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for the position of tenure-track Assistant Professor in Linguistics, appointment beginning August 2021. We seek a specialist in one or more Native American/Indigenous languages of North America who (a) combines this focus with research interests in a major subfield of linguistics and (b) shows evidence of innovative research and a strong potential to contribute to the Department’s teaching mission.

We especially welcome applications from scholars who:

  • engage in community-based research;
  • share the Department's commitment to cognitive-functional and usage-based explanation, data-intensive/quantitative research methods, and interdisciplinary training/scholarship.

Responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate teaching, research and service. Standard teaching load is 3 courses per year. Our interview processes at all levels will be conducted virtually. The PhD must be in hand by August 21, 2021; otherwise, the hire will be at the Instructor level.
