Instructors are encouraged to put books, films or other materials on course reserve to support current CU Boulder courses. These items are intended for the whole class to access, and are available for short-term checkout.
Students: Accessing course reserves
Check out physical course reserve materials at the service desk of the library where the item is being held. Electronic course reserves materials will be directly linked in the item record. Locate and access current course materials searching by instructor name or course listing using the button above.
Educators: Placing materials on course reserve
Physical materials (from the Libraries' collection or personal/departmental materials) may be placed on course reserve at any of our campus library locations. Limits for the number of physical items apply by location. There is no limit for electronic items.
Electronic materials may also be placed on reserve and we encourage this practice. Placing e-materials on reserve allows for easier access to assigned materials for students in the course, and also allows reserves staff to assess whether the current licensing is adequate for the class size and ensure that access is available throughout the semester. As always, instructors can request materials for purchase through the course reserves form as well.
Book chapter and article scans will no longer be provided by course reserves. Instructors may request scans directly through the Libraries’ interlibrary loan system, ILLiad. You will then be able to download the PDF files from ILLiad and upload them to your Canvas course site.
Please submit your requests as soon as possible, as it can take several weeks for items to be purchased or scanned. Thank you for understanding that the high volume of requests and limited staffing may increase turnaround times. Contact email@example.com with questions.
Please complete our request form, below, with as much information as you can in order to help us fulfill your request. When prompted to login to Microsoft Office 365, please do so using your identikey username @colorado.edu address (the first.last @ colorado.edu address will not allow you to log in).
Search across audio content (recommended), or search a specific database:
- Naxos Music Library
- Naxos Music Library Jazz
- Classical Music Library
- Smithsonian Global Sound
- Ethnographic Sound Archives Online
If these databases do not include streaming access to a recording you need, our Media Conversion Services unit may be able to create a streaming version from a physical format that is either held in the Libraries or provided by you.
To check for a specific film title, search across video content via OneSearch (recommended). You may also choose to search Kaltura via Canvas (you may need to first enable the Kaltura Media Gallery feature within Canvas and follow these search instructions for the Kaltura Media Gallery).
Additionally, see our Guide to Finding Film and Video.
If you are unable to locate the streaming video needed, our Media Conversion Services unit may be able to create a digital version from a physical format held in the Libraries (search the Chinook catalog) or provided by you.
