  • We may take longer than usual to reply to email reference requests, as our staff are onsite for limited hours each week. We can fulfill PDF reproduction orders in limited quantities with priority given to CU Boulder faculty, staff, and students. Very limited photocopy or other digital reproduction orders can be fulfilled at this time.

The RaD Reading Room (Norlin Library room M350B) is open to everyone. We can be reached by telephone at 303-492-6144, Monday - Friday, 11a - 4p. All visitors must complete a short registration process upon their first visit to the Reading Room (see below forms, which will be available in the reading room). Please bring a photo ID (driver's license, student/faculty card, etc.). Visitors must be prepared to leave their belongings in a secured locker in the reading room. Note that only pencils, paper, laptops, and cell phones/cameras are allowed while accessing RaD collections. No food or drink are permitted in the reading room.

Requesting Material

Some of our material is housed offsite or may take time to retrieve (up to 48 hours for offsite collections). For those travelling for research, we strongly encourage you to make an appointment by emailing us at and explaining what materials you would like to use. Please be as specific as possible, giving us titles and call numbers of books, and box numbers for manuscript collections.

Reproduction Requests

We are happy to provide scans and copies from our special collections and archives. For photographs and audio/visual material, digitization typically has associated costs. See below:

Other Research Services

RaD staff will conduct up to one hour of research toward your inquiry. If your request is extensive and you cannot come to the reading room to conduct research, we recommend that you hire an outside researcher to aid you in your inquiries.
