Organizational Development & Inclusive Practice

Brandi Hart is Interdisciplinary Librarian and Librarians of the Future Program Resident, one of two librarians forming the inaugural cohort of the Librarians of the Future Diversity Residency Program. Brandi supports student success through her responsibilities in creating instructional videos, and outreach and engagement initiatives at the Business and Music Libraries.

Brandi plans to focus her research on diversity, inclusion, equity and accessibility topics including how critical media literacy and information literacy informed by social justice can combat the normalization of negative stereotypes and racist imagery in the representation of Asian Americans in media and in library collections. She is also interested in information-seeking behaviors of international college students to inform the development of specific library resources and services to support this population. She was selected as the 2021-22 Association of College & Research Libraries/American Library Association Spectrum Scholar. In 2021, she was a recipient of the Sylvia Murphy Williams Award from the Illinois Library Association.

Brandi earned her Master of Science in Library and Information Science (summa cum laude) in May 2023 from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Classical Studies from Denison University.
