The University Libraries will pause the CU Boulder community’s ability to borrow materials through the Prospector service on May 19. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to plan ahead and place needed holds in Prospector by May 18. The Libraries will also pause lending materials to other libraries through Prospector starting May 12.

Patrons can use the Libraries Interlibrary Loan service (ILL) during the time that Prospector is suspended to get access to the same materials and libraries. Boulder community users can also use Prospector through the Boulder Public Library

This pause of Prospector is necessary as the Libraries are migrating to a new Library Services Platform (LSP), a technology which enables libraries to check out books, place holds on items, manage electronic resources and populate a library catalog. The University of Wyoming Libraries are also pausing Prospector as they migrate to a new LSP, which may cause delays in borrowing academic materials from them.

A tip for using ILL

If you are on campus or logged into the VPN, you can use WorldCat to request books through ILL. Search for the book you want to request, select “Access Options” and select, “request through Interlibrary Loan.” This will take you to ILLiad and automatically fill out the form. Click “Submit Request” on the bottom of the page and you are done!
