Women’s History Month began in 1987 to highlight the accomplishments of women throughout history but has its origins in New York City, where the Social Democratic Women’s Society first observed National Woman’s Day in 1909. This year’s theme is “celebrating women who tell our stories.”

The University Libraries has created a resource guide so you can learn more about the contributions of women to civilization, attend a local event, or even review a list of media recommendations for Women’s History Month.
