All five locations in University Libraries will be reopening for the fall semester.

Important service changes coming soon

Open doors and seating

Effective August 1, open facilities will not require seat reservations or Buff OneCard swipe access.

Libraries & stacks re-open to the public

Norlin Library re-opens on August 9; other libraries re-open August 16. Fall semester hours begin August 23 (view hours).

HathiTrust Emergency Collection access ends

Effective August 16, online access to the HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access Service (ETAS) will be discontinued.

Contactless hold pickup transition to self-service

Effective August 9, contactless hold pickup transitions to self-service holds; self-checkout machines will be available.

Ask A Librarian in-person service resumes August 23

In-person research assistance at library locations resumes August 23 (more about Ask A Librarian and service hours).

Below is a timeline with the reopening schedule:

Sunday, August 1 

  • Library users will no longer need to reserve a study seat in Norlin Commons.
  • Library users will no longer need their Buff OneCard to enter the Commons.

Sunday, August 8

  • Last day the libraries will offer contactless pickup services. 

Monday, August 9

  • Norlin Library will be open to the public Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. 
  • Stacks will be open for browsing to the public.
  • Norlin Commons will be open Sunday - Friday, 9 p.m. - 6 p.m.
