We are pleased to share that Associate Dean of University Libraries Jennie Gerke has been selected to participate in the 2020 UCLA Library Senior Fellows program

Biennially, 20 top managers from academic libraries nationwide are invited to participate in this prestigious three-week program. The curriculum is designed to advise and support the next generation of leaders in academic libraries.

Jennie Gerke is Dean of Libraries.

Gerke became Associate Dean of University Libraries in September 2019 after serving in an interim capacity. She has a long history in the University Libraries and has previously served as Head of the William M. White Business Library and as a librarian in the Government Information Library.

“It is great to see Jennie’s national impact and leadership skill recognized by such a selective and prestigious leadership training program,” Dean of University Libraries and Senior Vice Provost of Online Education Robert McDonald said.

Gerke is excited to connect with fellow library leaders in academia and return to the University of Colorado Boulder with additional insight into how the Libraries can best serve the campus community and public in an information-empowered world.

“Libraries are only as strong as the connections they build,” Gerke said. “A library without users is just a collection of materials. The more people use our resources and spaces, the more value libraries provide to their communities. Our resources and spaces must reflect the communities we live in and as leaders, it is our mission to bring people into our spaces and help them thrive.”

The 2020 UCLA Library Senior Fellows program starts July 13. Congratulations, Jennie!
