Norlin Library has a lot in common with Hogwarts. The staircases seem to move, the Center for British and Irish Studies (CBIS) looks a lot like the Great Hall, and if one looks closely, we’re all making magic happen.
It’s no secret that the University of Colorado Boulder’s school of witchcraft and wizardry is none other than Norlin Library, and for one night only, the University Libraries will fully embrace its alter ego.
Hogwarts at Norlin: FriYAY Nights will include a magical behind-the-scenes tour that even Hermione Granger would approve of. Then join us for a special screening of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” in CBIS. Snacks and house pins will be provided.
“Norlin Library is a place of discovery, as one never knows what book is just around the corner!” Senior Instructor and Learning Coordinator Cynthia Keller said.
Fri-YAY Nights is an alternative program series allowing us to make connections, build community and have fun! With a range of different events across campus month-to-month, Fri-YAY nights provide a variety of fun activities for participants to kick off the weekend right.
This event is a collaboration between The Teaching and Learning Unit at the Libraries and the campus' Health and Wellness Services.
“December can be a stressful time for students,” said Keller. “The University Libraries are excited to host one of the Fri-YAY Nights with Health and Wellness Services, and we hope this will give students a chance to relax before finals!”
Meet the Hogwarts crew at the west entrance of Norlin for the tour at 3:30 p.m. The film screening will begin in CBIS at 4 p.m. All CU Boulder students, faculty, and staff are welcome to attend any or all of the evening’s program. And remember what Ron learned from Hermione: “When in doubt, go to the library!”
