In collaboration with the Office of Diversity, Equity & Community Engagement (ODECE), the University Libraries have organized bookclub style sessions for CU One Read, an invitation for the campus community to read and discuss Sabrina & Corina—stories by Kali Fajardo-Anstine, a Denver-based author.

Among the more than 40 informative, interactive and challenging sessions that ODECE is hosting as part of the Diversity and Inclusion Summit, four sessions center around Farardo-Anstine's book. You can listen along as various campus luminaries read aloud selected short stories from Sabrina & Corina, on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m. in the Glenn Miller Ballroom West, followed by the book discussion at 12:30 p.m. in the same location. Both sessions repeat on Wednesday, Nov. 13, starting at 10 a.m. in the UMC 382-386.

Sabrina & Corina Small Book Discussions
Tuesday, Nov. 12, 12:30 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. in the Glenn Miller Ballroom

Wednesday, Nov. 13, 11 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. in UMC 382-386

“We are really looking forward to the book discussion conversations on Sabrina & Corina at the Diversity Summit," said Lindsay Robert, assistant professor and librarian. "This book has nuanced characters, rich language, and the stories take place along the Front Range and other parts of Colorado. Many issues discussed in the book apply to our campus community and relate to both actions individuals can take as well as structural impacts people experience.”

Book discussions will take place at round tables in the UMC. Each table will have at least one facilitator and a mix of campus community members as attendees (students, staff, and faculty). Facilitators will guide the group through introductions and a few discussion questions, though we imagine conversations about the book and its themes will be wide-ranging. All are welcome!
