The University Libraries would like to introduce and welcome our newest branch operations manager for the Howard B. Waltz Music Library, Katerina Allmendinger! Katerina Allmendinger is the new Branch Operations Manager at the CU Boulder Muisc

Allmendinger started with the Libraries at CU Boulder in June, right before graduating from the University of Denver with her Master’s in Library and Information Science.

“I worked at a music library when I was an undergraduate student,” said Allmendinger. “I think that’s where it started. Although like a lot of people, I was obsessed with libraries as a kid. I was in the library as often as I could be because that’s where the books were!”

Her areas of focus have included digitization and digital libraries and archival work of performing arts institutions. Prior to attending DU, Allmendinger received her Bachelor’s in Music Performance from the University of Florida. Her primary instrument was and continues to be the flute.

Allmendinger said she is excited to be working directly with the Libraries to help serve the College of Music’s needs.

“The College of Music has such strong programs in so many different disciplines,” she said. “It’s exciting to work with the students, faculty, and staff because they are talented in and passionate about what they do.”

Her mission as the branch operation manager is to continue to raise awareness for the accessibility of the Music Library’s material and the availability of employees to assist anyone who comes in.

“When visitors come in, they shouldn’t feel intimidated about asking for help,” she said. “This should be a collaborative process. So if you have questions, ask them! I know I’ve benefitted a lot from people being generous with their time with me and I hope to do the same for others.”

Now that Allmendinger has graduated, she hopes to dedicate more time to playing the flute and experimenting with outdoor photography.

Welcome to the Libraries, Katerina!
