Three professors of PhilosophyDo you know what former NBA Coach Phil Jackson, filmmaker Wes Craven, former-CEO of Hewlett-Packard Carly Fiorina, Supreme Court Justice Stephen G. Breyer, and co-founder of PayPal Peter Theil all have in common? Their college major was Philosophy.

Join us for a lively panel discussion celebrating diverse engagement and inclusion within the field of Philosophy, Wednesday, February 27, at 5 pm in Norlin Library's Center for British & Irish Studies on the 5th floor. Panelists will include Professors Mitzi Lee, Ajume Wingo, and Heather Demarest, who will discuss their personal experiences, journeys, and their opinions on how the field is changing.

Everyone to some degree enages with Philosphy, which studies not only the great thinkers of history but critical thinking itself, questioning  the nature of reality, the nature and origins of knowledge, and the foundations of ethics and morality, just to name a few. It's no wonder then that a degree in Philosophy can lead to so many different career paths. Students within other disciplines engage with many philosophical concepts and are welcome to join in conversations outside the set structures of their own disciplines.

If you have only pictured a philosopher to be someone with a long white beard, staring contemplatively at the sky, you'll enjoy having your expectations shattered at our panel discussion.

#ILookLikeAPhilosopher is a free event, open to all. Light refreshments will be served.
