The first image of 1923 shoeboxes, that originally held portions of the James F. Willard collection (the progenitor of the CU Boulder Archives), while strange, are some of the more “acceptable” boxes in which materials have been sent to the archives.
More commonly, probably due to their sturdiness, we see materials donated in liquor boxes! It is very common to walk through an archives and find boxes like the second image holding unprocessed collections.
The University of Colorado Boulder Libraries will celebrate the centennial anniversary of the Archives on June 6, 2018. This is story #32 in our series: 100 Stories for 100 Years from the Archives!
