In partnership with the Vasulka Chamber at the National Gallery of Iceland, CU Boulder holds materials from the pioneering video art duo: Steina and Woody Vasulka. Steina began her creative career as a classically trained violinist and met Woody, a poet and filmaker, in Prague where Woody introduced video to Steina. The two moved to New York and began experimenting with the newest technologies. Funny enough, they tended to switch roles when creating works together with Steina taking lead on visuals and Woody producing the sound.
