Archives are not just a bunch of old paper. Though that is a majority of what we currently work with, we also preserve and provide access to materials that are created digitally. The Rabbi Zalman M. Schachter-Shalomi papers, for example, contain not only boxes of paper materials, but also floppy disks, hard drives, CDs, DVDs, etc. He considered himself a pioneer of technology, which resulted in his use of a variety of digital formats and even inspired him to produce poetry to the "cosmic computer."
On June 6, 2018 the University of Colorado Boulder Libraries will celebrate the centennial anniversary of the Archives. This is story #8 in our series: 100 Stories for 100 Years from the Archives!
