Rabbi Zalman M. Schachter-Shalomi's handwritten edits to his poem

Archives are not just a bunch of old paper. Though that is a majority of what we currently work with, we also preserve and provide access to materials that are created digitally. The Rabbi Zalman M. Schachter-Shalomi papers, for example, contain not only boxes of paper materials, but also floppy disks, hard drives, CDs, DVDs, etc. He considered himself a pioneer of technology, which resulted in his use of a variety of digital formats and even inspired him to produce poetry to the "cosmic computer."
