In 2018 the University of Colorado Boulder Libraries will celebrate the centennial anniversary of the Archives. Join us over the next 100 days as we share 100 stories from the Archives!

Paxson, of the University of Colorado History Department, reported on "The Public Archives of Colorado" in the Annual report of the American Historical Association, finding record keeping and collection inadequate to the requirements of officials and historians. Professor James Field Willard, Head of the Department of History from 1907 to 1935, agreed and committed his time and efforts to amassing source materials and promoting historical preservation in the academic community and public arena. Dr. Willard's first project, funded by the State Council of Defense, Colorado's Patriotic League, individual citizens, and the University of Colorado Board of Regents, documented citizen and state activities during World War I. Inbetween 1917 and 1918, this collection became the foundation the University of Colorado Boulder Archives.
