Bill Buck retired in January 2017 as General Counsel – Upstream Companies for Exxon Mobil Corporation.  

In his 35+ year career with Mobil Corporation and Exxon Mobil Corporation, Bill held multiple legal, business and management positions, including General Counsel of Mobil Exploration Norway Inc., North American Strategic Planning Manager, and Production Chief Attorney, before retiring as GC. 

Bill earned his B.Sc. and J.D. from the University of Colorado and is admitted to the bars of Colorado (inactive), New York, Louisiana (inactive) and Texas.  He is a past Chairman of the Houston Bar Foundation, which provides financial support for pro bono activities in Houston, as well as a member of the Tahirih Justice Center (legal support for immigrant women) Advisory Council. He is also a past member of the Executive Committee and Advisory Board of the Institute for Energy Law (IEL) and is former Chair of the IEL Oil & Gas Practice Committee.  

Bill is married to Leslie and they have four adult children distributed among the states of Colorado, Utah and Texas.
