LGTC 5030: Emerging Tools in Practice

8 week course (2cr): January 27 to March 24  ($880)

This course will introduce you to new and emerging educational technology. You will explore the educational potential of the following themes through scholarly readings, interviews, explorations and lesson planning: virtual reality; augmented reality; breakout Edus; mobile language learning; place-based language learning and digital games. Students in the course will select an emerging technology, investigate its potential for language learning and present their finding in a final report and presentation. LGTC 5045: Telecollaboration Exchange for Language Learning

6 week course (1cr): February 3 to March 17, 2018  ($440)

The goal of this course is to allow you to work on your own language proficiency. You will meet twice a week for 30 minutes with a native or near native speaker of the language you teach via video conferencing. You will conduct 10 sessions total. Each week, you will listen back to your sessions and write short reflections as well as read and discuss short articles related to the challenges of developing and maintaining oral proficiency with your instructor and classmates. LGTC 5040: Telecollaboration for Language Learning Foundations

8 week course (2cr): March 31 to May 26, 2018  ($880)

Telecollaboration refers to the practice of pairing students or groups of students to native speakers of the target language through video conferencing tools for the specific purpose of increasing their language and cultural proficiency. In this course, you will learn about the companion methodology and instructional approaches to make such exchanges successful.
