Before you start the process, visit the Schedule page and write down the course code of the course(s) you wish to register for (LGTC ####) and the semester in which the course will take place. You do not need to upload transcripts. You may leave this part of the form blank. 

STEP ONE: APPLY FOR A CU BOULDER STUDENT ID NUMBER

  1. Visit the Continuing Education Enrollment page to apply for an ID number
  2. Choose the appropriate term then create an account and follow the steps to follow a new application and continue an application you started earlier. You do not need to submit official test scores. 
  3. When approved, you will receive a student identification number to activate your Identikey (this process might take a few days). If you have not received it after that time, contact ceregistration@colorado.edu or 303-492-5148. 

STEP TWO: ACTIVATE YOUR IDENTIKEY

Use the student ID and pin you get via email to activate your Identikey on the CU Boulder identity manager page

STEP THREE: COMPLETE THE REQUIRED PREREGISTRATION INFORMATION

  1. Go to the Buff Portal and log in with your Identkey and password. The Buff Portal is the online campus portal that gives you access to credit course enrollment, tuition bill, your final grades, and more
  2. Click on the menu icon (at the very top left corner), select "Classes & Registration" and then select "Registration Checklist"
    • Select the pull-down menu under the "Complete Preregistration" option of the checklist and then select "Continue"
  3. On the following page, complete the information including adding your addresses, emergency contact information, tuition & fee agreement, etc.

STEP FOUR: SEARCH & REGISTER FOR COURSES

  1. Go to the Buff Portal and log in with your Identkey and password
  2. Click on the menu icon (at the very top left corner), then select "Classes & Registration" and then "Search for Classes"
    • On the menu that appears next, select "Search for Classes" next to the globe icon
  3. Find your class. The subject is LGTC, the catalog number is the 4 digit number found after LGTC (5030, 5035, 5045, etc). You will find the subject and catalog number on the Schedule page. 
    • Make sure you select "Boulder Continuing Education" from the dropdown menu of the "Any Campus" box
    • If your class is not appearing, make sure the semester matches when the course is listed as being offered
  4. Add your course(s) to your shopping cart
  5. Enroll in your selected course(s)

Nondegree students must term-activate in the Buff Portal before registration each semester. You will not be able to term-activate until your nondegree application is processed and you have matriculated. You are encouraged to term-activate before the semester begins.

  2. Search for Term ctivate (detailed instructions on this page).

Drop and Withdrawal Policy:

Deadlines to drop a class without a W grade and receive a 100% tuition refund vary based on the dates of each class and are posted on the "Schedule" tab. If you drop after the posted deadline for that class, the class will appear on your transcript with a W grade and you will be responsible for the full tuition amount.
