If your department decided to start offering blended or fully online language courses, who would be put in charge of the project?
The thought of teaching languages online is often met with skepticism but blended and online courses are an increasingly common occurrence in high schools: their flexibility allows to overcome the schedule conflicts that often prevent students from taking or continuing with a language; students from multiples schools may be pooled together to offer upper-level courses or languages not traditionally offered at the high school or college level.
However, blended and online language courses are not easy to design or teach. There is more to the task than simply porting a face-to-face classroom online. The goal of this hands-on course is to prepare language teachers to tackle this task. This course is a good fit for teachers who wish to learn to teach fully online or to create online materials to supplement their face-to-face courses (hybrid/blended language learning). At the end of the course, you will have built a fully online unit that will serve as evidence of your newly acquired expertise in online language course design.
