Technology has deeply transformed the language teaching profession in the last 15 years. The textbook used to be the primary reference, but today, technology has changed how teachers teach and how students learn world languages.
The certificate in language teaching with technology is a 12-credit fully online graduate program for pre and in-service world language teachers who wish to learn how to leverage today's technology to improve their students proficiency and inter-cultural competence. The curriculum and individual courses are built to meet the needs of both novice and advanced users of technology.
The admission requirements are a BA or equivalent and preferably an affiliation with the field of language education.
Tuition is $495 per credit hour for both in-state, out-of-state and international students (Fall, spring and summer 2018).
You may take just one course based on your interests or pursue the certificate by completing the 12 credits in up to three years. LGTC 5020 and LGTC 5030 are required courses for certificate seekers. Visit the curriculum page for a description of each course.
We welcome international students! While the TOEFL is not required for admission, the courses are taught entirely in English and involve a significant amount of academic readings, written assignments and oral presentations.
You will need 24/7 access to an Internet connection and a recent computer (desktop or laptop, not a tablet!) with a functional sound card and webcam.
As part of your course work, you may be asked to create profiles on a variety of platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc. This is an integrant and required part of the program as we explore the potential of these tools for teaching, learning and professional development. You may create anonymous profiles if you wish and cancel your accounts once the coursework is over.
