The iTOYS Lab Team is led by Principal Investigator Christina Meyers-Denman (PhD, CCC-SLP) and assisted by lab manager, Amanda Auen. Becky Burton (CCC-SLP) provides the study's language treatment and collaborates on research projects with Dr. Meyers-Denman. Undergraduate research assistants facilitate in completing research projects: Riley McKibbon, Emily Cavallaro, Savannah Ames, and Ava Begun.

Principal Investigator
Dr. Meyers-Denman directs the iTOYS Lab with projects designed to improve the efficacy and efficiency of intervention provided by speech-language pathologists, parent-implemented interventions, and language assessment procedures. Her research involves children with typical development, developmental language disorder, "late talking" toddlers, and families of children struggling with communication development. Christina joined CU in 2015 after living in Arizona. She enjoys exploring Colorado, camping, hiking and snowboarding with her husband and young daughter.
Amanda Auen

Amanda Auen

Lab Manager
I'm Amanda, a graduate student at the University of Colorado Boulder. I've been working professionally with kids for 8+ years in Minnesota and North Dakota. I've done research with kids for the last 5 years exploring language development and visual perception while managing two research labs at the North Dakota State University. I enjoy hiking and kayaking, and am excited to be working with kids in the iTOYS Lab at CU Boulder!
Savannah Ames

Savannah Ames

Hello, my name is Savannah and I am a senior in the Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences department at CU Boulder. I live in Nederland and work as a nanny and preschool teacher. I love working with kids, baking, painting, and hiking. I am extremely excited to learn more about research and be a part of the iTOYS lab!
Ava Begun

Ava Begun

My name is Ava Begun and I am a junior at CU. I enjoy being outside, volunteering with animals, and am really excited to be apart of the iTOYS lab! I love working with kids and am very interested in working with the deaf and hard of hearing community. I look forward to getting research experience and learning new information and techniques from being apart of the iTOYS lab!
Becky Burton

Becky Burton

I'm Becky and I have been a certified and licensed Speech Language Pathologist for 4 years. I love working with children and families to improve communication! I've worked in several settings with children from birth-early childhood. I’ve also worked on several research projects including on techniques making language therapy more efficient and effective. I love sharing research and resources with the community, and am excited to join the iTOYS team!
Emily Cavallaro

Emily Cavallaro

Emily Cavallaro, is a first year MA-SLP student at the University of Colorado Boulder. She graduated with a B.S. in Biology from St. Mary’s University and has a passion for working with kids. She is primarily interested in working in a school or as early interventionist.
Riley McKibbon

Riley McKibbon

Hi! My name is Riley, a junior at CU Boulder. I enjoy backpacking, skiing, and spending time with the kids I nanny! I love working with kids and am studying to become a pediatric speech therapist. This is my first experience working in research and I am so excited to be a part of the iTOYS Lab!
