The U.S. Treasury Department and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced the extension of the 2020 income tax filing deadline for individual taxpayers (normally April 15) until May 17 this year to provide tax filers more flexibility during the pandemic while also allowing the IRS to prioritize the sending of government relief payments and working through backlogs.
