Proposed Rule to Eliminate Duration of Status

On Friday, September 25, 2020, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) published a proposed rule that would eliminate admission for duration of status (D/S) for international students and their dependents on F visas and Exchange Visitors and their dependents on J visas. ISSS is aware of this new guidance and shares your concerns. Our office is evaluating these proposed regulations and any impacts they may have on our campus community. ISSS is also working closely with campus leadership on a collective response. We encourage our international students, scholars, researchers and faculty to continue to monitor the International Student and Scholar Services website and to contact ISSS with any questions, concerns or requests for support services.
