Advisor: Julio Sepúlveda

Bio

Lina did her PhD in the department of Geological Sciences at University of Colorado Boulder with Prof. Julio Sepúlveda at INSTAAR in the Organic Geochemistry Group and Prof. Peter Molnar at the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES). Her project focused on the refinement of organic geochemistry tools such as bacterial lipids (branched GDGTs) and stable isotopes in plant waxes for the reconstruction of climate in the tropical Andes of Colombia during the Pliocene-Pleistocene.

Originally from Colombia, Lina did her undergraduate studies at Universidad de Los Andes, Bogotá where her bachelor thesis developed the first structural characterization of the Azuero-Soná fault zone in the Azuero Peninsula of Panama.

Research interests

Climate and tectonics relationship by using different techniques such as biomarkers and stable isotopes. Right now, my biggest interest is in the Tropical Andes during the Cenozoic.
