Research
Christa is working to quantify stream ecosystem function in the Taylor Valley, MDV, Antarctica, focusing on six streams: Von Guerard Stream, West and East Forks of Crescent Stream, Green Creek, Priscu Stream, and Andersen Creek. She is conducting two simultaneous studies at each site: a small-scale nutrient uptake experiment (NO3, NH4 and PO4) using TASCC methodology; and a dissolved oxygen (DO) uptake experiment to determine net stream metabolic rate.
Research interests
Stream ecosystem ecology, nutrient and carbon fluxes, hydroecology of intermittent streams, hydrological and ecological modeling.
