Thank you for another busy year of hard work supporting the campus community. As the end of the year approaches, we know many of you are already planning your schedules. Winter Break is Dec. 25 to Jan. 1 and I am pleased to share that you will not have to use any of your leave hours during that time.

This past May, Chancellor DiStefano announced that the university would close all campus offices from Dec. 25 to Jan. 1. This year, that includes paid leave for three days (24 hours, prorated for part-time appointments) during that week.  We recognize the importance of taking time away to recharge for the new year. To support this, Vice Chancellor Dave Kang has granted all Infrastructure and Sustainability employees two days (16 hours, prorated for part-time appointments) of administrative leave to be taken between Dec. 25 to Jan. 1.

With the Governor’s holiday announcement today, staff have been granted 12 additional hours (also prorated for part-time appointments) of paid leave. These hours can be taken any time between Dec. 1, 2021 and Jan. 31, 2022.

Holiday hours can be submitted/tracked in FAMIS using the following codes:

  • Specific dates for the holiday and when you will want to use THLDY with pay code HLDY:
    • December 27 – Holiday
    • December 28 – Holiday
    • December 31 – Holiday
  • Specific dates for the administrative leave and when you will want to use TADLV:
    • December 29 – Administrative Leave
    • December 30 – Administrative Leave
    • The pay code will default to ADLV in FAMIS, do not change that default.
    • Add the comment “winter break” into the comment field.
  • Governor’s holiday (12 hours) can be taken anytime between December 1, 2021 – January 31, 2022.
    • You will want to use TADLV to submit/track these hours in FAMIS and add the comment “winter break” to the comment field.

I realize that some of you are essential services employees who may be required to work during that week to ensure continued operations of building systems and other critical needs. Please rest assured that any of the holiday time or administrative leave days that you are unable to use due to these work requirements can be taken at a different time in coordination with your supervisor.

Please reach out to me, your supervisor or Tanya Patzer if you have any questions regarding winter break leave.

Happy Holidays,
Terri Willis
