Here you will find information about some of the resources we have available to support instructors.

If you have any other ideas for how we might support your course, please reach out to Becky Komarek, and we will see how we can help!

Space for individual classes or outside-of-class events

We have two large spaces that we are happy to reserve for you for single session classes, the Commons and the Project-based Learning Studio.  Use these spaces for:

  • Hosting outside-of-class events for your course, such as workshops or meet and greets
  • Holding an in-class activity or poster session that you don't have space for in your assigned classroom
  • Hosting office hours

If you'd like to reserve either of these spaces or have questions about how you can utilize them for your class, please contact Victoria Lanaghan.

Places to have a meeting or record a lecture

Faculty, staff, and students can reserve any of our conference rooms, which range in capacity from 4 to 16 people.

If you would like to reserve a conference room, please contact Victoria Lanaghan.

Fabrication support for my class

Idea Forge fabrication availability includes 3D printing, laser cutting, PCB manufacturing, woodworking, sewing, machining, and welding.  We also have various handtools available for general use or checkout.

If you anticipate that your class needs fabrication support from the Idea Forge, please contact Becky Komarek to discuss logistics.

Hands-on Activity Support

We can work with you to offer in-class workshops for your students, on topics including sewing, 3D printing, etc.

If you're just looking to do a basic design-build activity, we have a Pretotyping Cabinet full of various rudimentary prototyping supplies - you can reserve the Commons and use the supplies during your classtime, or your students can drop-in and use the supplies whenever they'd like.  If you'd like to do a pretotyping activity in your classroom, we also have boxed pretotyping kits available, including items such as cardboard, string, rubber bands, and other low-resolution prototyping materials.  Check out our Pretotyping Kit Unboxing Video.

To discuss in-class activity support or to request a set of Pretotyping Kits, please contact Becky Komarek.

Equipment Checkout

We have a variety of equipment available for checkout for you and your students.  This includes remote teaching devices like webcams, document cameras, etc. and also tools such as drills, sewing machines, and oscilloscopes.

If you have an inquiry about checkout equipment, please contact Victoria Lanaghan.

3D Printed Duck

If you're having a tough day, and just need a 3D printed duck to make you smile, please let us know - we're happy to provide one free of charge.

To request a duck, please contact Victoria Lanaghan.
