John is currently Lead Software Designer and Architect for the Institute for Student AI Teaming (iSAT). His work focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining core infrastructure to support AI Partners, including technologies and data storage in the Amazon cloud, CU’s Research Computing and local compute resources. As part of his work, John manages a team of developers creating data processing pipelines that analyze audio, video, web interaction, and other data streams to characterize student collaboration and teamwork and developing the AI Partner software systems in the cloud. 

Before joining iSAT, John served as lead developer on ICS’s eBRAVO project. Prior to that, he was a project manager and software engineer at the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) where he lead the development and operation of the National Science Digital Library (NSDL), the Digital Library for Earth System Education (DLESE), the Curriculum Customization Service (CCS), and the Strand Map Service (SMS).

In his free time, he enjoys spending time outdoors cycling, hiking, and skiing, and traveling to places far and wide.
