A .csv file that includes an updated version of the violent events data is now available. This file covers events from Aug 1999 through Dec 2016. See the below metadata for more information on each field in the table.

Data used to analyze violence in the North Caucasus of Russia are available for download here. These data are formatted as point and polygon shapefiles projected in the UTM coordinate system, zone 38N. For additional metadata for the below shapefiles, see CaucMetaData.txt. Please accompany any published use of these data with the appropriate citation.

The disaggregated violent event data for the North Caucasus of Russia are available as a point shapefile. These data were used in both of the papers mentioned below.
Rayoni-scale aggregated data used in O'Loughlin & Witmer's 2010 Annals of the Association of American Geographers article are available as a polygon shapefile.
Grid cell aggregated data used in O'Loughlin & Witmer's forthcoming Journal of Conflict Resolution article are available as a polygon shapefile.
