Dr. Ilia Mishev
Mathematics

I was born in Bulgaria, where I grew up. After graduating from high school, I came to the United States to study in college. I got my bachelor’s degree in Math from Pomona College (2001), and Master’s (2005) and Ph.D. degrees (2009) in Math from CU-Boulder. I have taught Math at CU-Boulder most of the time since 2003 either as a Teaching Assistant (while still a graduate student) or as a lecturer (after getting my Ph.D.). I enjoy teaching very much. I also enjoy working on research. I am currently studying hypergeometric series, orthogonal polynomials, and their connections to evaluating combinatorial sums. I am very happy to talk to students about my research. I love living in Boulder. In my spare time, I enjoy hiking and exercising.
