Course Description:
This course investigates literature thematically centered on forced migration, diaspora, and marginalized communities through novels, short stories, graphic novels, and essays by women. Themes explored are feminism, identity, intersectionality, diaspora, issues of gender and borders, exile, ethnicity, and literary theory among others. Specifically, we will read authors such as Marjane Satrapi, Sandra Cisneros, Toni Morrison, Octavia Butler, Chimamanda Adiche, among others.
