CU Boulder is committed to a strong campus climate in which all students, staff, and faculty thrive and feel a sense of commitment to and from our community. Creating this depends on our ability to shift cultural perspectives and appropriately adapt behaviors to cultural differences and commonalities. The Department of Human Resources offers the Intercultural Development Program (IDP) to provide CU employees with knowledge, tools and resources to guide more deeper cultural understanding for oneself and others.

1. Attend the Developing Intercultural Competence seminar

This workshop is open to all CU Boulder faculty and staff interested in learning more about intercultural competence and how the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) can assess, and build upon, your own level of intercultural competence.  CU Boulder IDI qualified administrators will guide you through attitudes, awareness, knowledge, and skills associated with creating an inclusive campus environment.

  • Upcoming Dates: Apr. 19, May 29, Jun. 7, Jul. 24
  • Length of Time: 2.5 hours
  • Intended Audience: CU Staff and Faculty

2. Schedule a personal feedback session

In addition, individuals may register for the Developing Intercultural Competence seminar to learn more about intercultural competence and how the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) can assess, and build upon, their own level of intercultural competence. QA’s will guide participants through attitudes, awareness, knowledge, and skills associated with creating an inclusive campus environment. Upon completion of the course, participants are eligible to take the IDI and meet with a QA for their individual profile.

If you are interested in setting up an IDI feedback session, please contact Amy Moreno for more information.

3. Request a department, work group or project team session

A department, work group, or project team may request a group profile feedback presentation titled Measuring Intercultural Competence. All individuals in the group complete the IDI. The group’s results are shared in the session. After the group presentation, participants are encouraged to schedule an individual profile meeting with a Qualified Administrator (QA) to receive their personal profile results and an intercultural development plan.
