Many of you remember Athanasios (Thanasi) Moulakis, the founding director of the Herbst Program. After he left CU, he went on to multiple international posts, including acting president of the American University of Iraq Sulaimani from 2010 to 2013.

To commemorate Thanasi’s contributions, AUIS is naming its library in his honor. An October reception in Washington, D.C., “will celebrate the launching of the Moulakis Special Collections and Reading Room of the Dr. Athanasios Moulakis Memorial Library.” The event is on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 5-7 p.m. at The Westchester, 4000 Cathedral Ave. NW.

If you are interested in attending, please RSVP as soon as possible to Liza O’Connor-Stroud at liza.oconnor@aius.edu.krd. Mrs. Moulakis will be attending, and she is especially eager to see students who stayed at the Moulakis house in Italy, so many years ago.
