CU Boulder Athletics and Recreation Services are hosting the annual Inclusive Sports Summit on Wednesday, Feb. 26, which will explore identity, privilege, inclusion and diversity within sports and recreation.
This year’s keynote speakers are CU Boulder alumni, Kate Fagan and Phillip Lindsay.
Kate Fagan is a CU Boulder alum and the author of the New York Times bestseller, WHAT MADE MADDY RUN. Fagan is also the author of the coming-of-age memoir, The Reappearing Act, about her experience coming out while playing basketball at CU.
In addition to writing, Fagan served as a columnist and on-air talent for ESPN for over 7 years. She has also made appearances on ESPN’s Around the Horn, and served as the show’s first female host in 2017.
Phillip Lindsay is currently a running back for the Denver Broncos. He was the first undrafted offensive rookie to make the pro bowl in NFL History. As a CU Boulder alum, Lindsay played on the CU Boulder football team and set the school record in all-purpose yards and yards from scrimmage.
Off the field, Lindsay has been a champion of Urban PEAK, a Denver foundation that helps children, teens and young adults facing homelessness.
In addition to these noteworthy speakers, the Inclusive Sports Summit will also feature presentations on topics like e-sports, body image, diversity in sports and outdoor recreation, LGBTQ+ in sports, stigma and a career networking session.
