Professional development is a vital element of graduate education. In coordination with partners across campus, the Graduate School helps graduate students cultivate the skills you need to succeed—whether you are planning a career in public service, government, the private sector, or academia.

Professional Development Certifications

The Graduate School and the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA) have partnered to offer a series of professional development opportunities in the areas of Research & Writing, Professionalism, and Career Exploration & Preparation—academic careers and prepping for careers beyond academia. These workshops will be offered throughout the academic year. Our programs are designed to help graduate students and post-docs identify and expand core competencies and skills, explore the diverse career options available to them, and to develop effective job search strategies. Through attending and participating in these sessions, students will be able to earn certifications in academic core competencies while they develop transferable skills to help them in their professional and academic development. For more information, email the director of graduate professional development.
