About

Tyler Keith Marks (February 7, 1932 – February 21, 2002) was born in Denver, Colorado. In 1956, Keith earned two Bachelor of Science Degrees, one in Architectural Engineering and another in Business. Later that year, on September 8th, Keith married Patricia Lee Pointer in Denver. Rather than pursue a career in architecture, Keith decided to enter the Graduate School of Geology to work on a master's degree. Keith entered The University of Colorado at Boulder in the fall of 1950 and completed his collegiate education there in 1958. Keith launched his professional career as a petroleum geologist with Midwest Oil Company in Denver. While at Midwest, Keith developed a passion for the challenge, risk, and thrill of exploring for oil and gas and co-funded an international exploration company, also located in Denver, called Trend Exploration Limited. In 1974, Keith established his own oil and gas business in Denver. During the next 28 years until his death, Keith continued his passion for exploratory geology and geophysics by participating in both national and international drilling projects. By persevering through good and bad times, and by adapting his methods to an ever-evolving industry, Keith succeeded in building a diversified portfolio of oil and gas reserves as a solid foundation for his organizations' future growth. During his eight years as a student, Keith formed a special bond with the University that would last a lifetime.
