Happy Aphelion Earthlings!
We’re farther away from the Sun today than any other time of the year. Why? Our orbit isn’t circular, it’s more like an oval.
Why is it hot? It’s summer in the Northern Hemisphere because the Earth’s axis is tilted toward the Sun & the days are long, while it’s winter in the Southern Hemisphere where the South Pole is tilted away.
