Photo of the comet against a dark blue sky taken by Fiske Planetarium staff just outside Teton National Park, WY on July 18thAs Comet NEOWISE gets further from the Sun and becomes harder to see in the Colorado sky, we bode a farewell to the much beloved comet that brightened our summer. It's technically closest to the Earth today (64 million miles), but dimming quickly. The next chance to catch a glimpse of the comet on its orbit back into the inner solar system won't be for another 6,800 years! This picture was captured by Fiske Planetarium staff just outside Teton National Park, WY on July 18th. Goodbye and fare thee well!
