CU Employees at the UMC Glenn Miller Ballroom

On March 15, Finance and Business Strategy (FBS) welcomed over 150 people--roughly 60% of FBS employees--to its first internal trade show. The event was open to all FBS employees and was designed to give participants the opportunity to learn more about the different departments within the division.

At the event, twenty booths with representatives from every FBS office lined the Glenn Miller Ballroom, located within the University Memorial Center (UMC). As participants arrived, they were encouraged to engage in scenarios depicting how the different departments work together to support university projects and CU Boulder's strategic imperatives. At the booths, attendees were able to interact with virtual reality, check out 3D printing, learn about strategic planning, and receive fiscal procedure and budget guidance, among other activities.

A number of inter-office opportunities for collaboration were identified as a result of conversations at the trade show. Networking with new people and putting faces to names of long-time coworkers were two consistently highlighted pieces of feedback from the show. FBS leadership is working on ways to expand this experience to the wider campus community.

Louise Vale, the interim senior associate vice chancellor of Finance and Business Strategy, would like to express her thanks to everyone who planned, supported, and attended the FBS Employee Trade Show. Finance and Business Strategy is committed to being the University of Colorado Boulder's go-to resource for strategic business planning, financial management, and decision-support.
