Reappointment, Promotion, and Tenure

Reappointment, Promotion, and Tenure

Outstanding faculty members are an essential element of a great university. Faculty are subject to rigorous review processes during their life as a faculty member on this campus. These processes are guided largely by departmental bylaws and criteria; however, there are overarching campus policies and procedures to which all units must adhere. The following links will connect you to the campus guidelines and policies corresponding to these faculty events.

Reappointment of Instructor Rank Faculty

Faculty initially appointed to the rank of Instructor or Senior Instructor are usually reviewed during the last year of the reappointment period. The criteria for evaluation are defined by the terms of the initial contract.

Reappointment, Tenure, and Promotion of Tenure Rank Faculty

Faculty initially appointed to the regular professorial rank (assistant professor, associate professor, or professor) are usually reviewed during the last year of the reappointment period.

Campus Policies - Faculty Affairs

Guidelines and additional policy information related to the reappointment process of tenure rank faculty can be found here.
